A $1M gift from Jim '73 and Ann Marie Maciej has transformed St. Cloud State's Nursing program, creating new simulation laboratories and providing cutting edge technologies to enhance instruction. The gift has enabled St. Cloud State to expand its nursing cohort -a boon to the region's growing need for highly skilled and caring nurses.
Thanks to a generous $1M gift from alumni Ron and Bonnie Swenson, the Herberger Business School now has a state-of-the-art Financial Markets Lab featuring a Bloomberg terminal and a dynamic stock ticker encircling the lab making it the pride of Centennial Hall. The Ron '69 and Bonnie '68 Swenson Financial Markets Lab significantly elevates curricular instruction in the Finance and Insurance programs and is now home to the Husky Growth Fund, a faculty advised co-curricular group of students who manage a portfolio exceeding $350,000.
Powered by a $500,000 gift from Grant '62 and Carol Nelson, the renovation of the strength and conditioning center that now bears their name satisfies a critical need for the University's men's and women's DII athletes. The Grant '62 and Carol Nelson Strength and Conditioning Center provides a truly state-of-the art facility to support the development and preparation for athletic success and will also provide a big boost in recruiting going forward.
A generous gift of $1.5M from CentraCare has helped St. Cloud State establish a Doctor of Nursing Practice program in collaboration with the University of Minnesota and the Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research. "CentraCare is proud to support St. Cloud State University and assist in establishing its Doctor of Nursing Practices program and the Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research," according to CentraCare CEO Ken Holmen. "CentraCare's support aligns with our strategic vision to continue to serve the health needs of our communities."
A gift of $750,000 from the estate of long time St. Cloud State Professor Charles Nelson has endowed a scholarship fund with the goal of supporting student retention in the College of Science and Engineering. Dr. Nelson, who received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, was a long-time faculty member in the department of Earth and Atmospheric Science. "Student retention is a critical issue for St. Cloud State and to have this scholarship fund laser focused on retention is going to be so helpful in keeping our students on a path towards graduation" said Dr. Dan Gregory, Provost.
