Grant '63 and Carol Nelson Strength and Conditioning Center
Nelson Strength Center

Nelson Strength and Conditioning Center – completed in 2020

Like the arts, sports at St. Cloud State engage students, the campus, and the greater community in a myriad of valuable ways. Our teams perform admirably, but St. Cloud State athletes lacked access to the kind of dedicated strength and conditioning facilities that have benefitted their competitors in recent years. Thanks to a generous gift from Grant and Carol Nelson, that's all changed. The beautifully transformed Nelson Strength and Conditioning Center now includes The Torrey Commons, a well-appointed meeting space overlooking the Center that welcomes new recruits and their families and where staff can gather. The Nelson Center features an advanced Cardio Lab and a full suite of strength and conditioning equipment designed to support the fitness needs of the men and women who comprise SCSU's DII athletics teams. As athletes from different sports mingle in the new Nelson Center, a greater sense of unity, camaraderie and Husky Pride has emerged.

Herb Brooks National Hockey Center Video and Sound Capability Upgrades
Hockey Center

As the Huskies 2021 Frozen Four appearance has demonstrated, hockey brings the St. Cloud State community together as one! The opening of the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center undisputedly helped bolster pride for the sport and the University. Installation of 17-by-46-foot LED boards at each end of the arena, as well as fascia LED signs throughout the facility that will display messages in high-definition quality. Upgrading our LED video technology will provide a platform to showcase quality video work produced by St. Cloud State Mass Communication students and can be used to recognize supporting partners and accomplished alumni. Combined with upgrades to the arena's acoustics audio system, the display technology will provide greater opportunities for revenue generation and institutional messaging and will assist in our efforts to recruit, engage, and retain our Huskies hockey fan base.
